I had a wonderful few days. I walked in excess of my daily average of steps on all three days, exploring some ‘off the grid’ treasures courtesy of the wonderful
Messy Nessy book
“Don’t be a Tourist In Paris”. I was totally knackered at the end of each day, but I soaked up as much as I could of the Parisian ‘live life’ attitude, the beauty of the architecture and the abundance of deliciousness.
We all too often spend time looking down at our phones, I try not to do this when I’m walking around a city (apart from looking at a map when I’m obviously lost). I look up and always see the most amazing gardens, balconies and architecture above the usual eye level. I am a little obsessed with looking up while in Paris, all that intricate cast iron and beautiful stone work, every building has its own attitude and presence. They fascinate and inspire me. What inspires you to get creative?
A couple of years back I made a macrame wall hanging that I called Paris, it was inspired by those stunning balconies. After this short trip, I’m inspired all over again and think I may have to start a new piece this weekend. Maybe I’ll do a whole series of Paris wall hangings…
I took a million photos of the tops of buildings, I’ve certainly got enough material to draw on.
